When Will It End?

Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. “Do you see all these things?” he asked. “Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.” As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” Matthew 24:1-3 NIV

Why is it that the disciples, and we, today, feel we need to know the exact time when Jesus will return? The Master told us, Himself, that He does not even know the exact time of His return. This is only known by the Heavenly Father.

Occasionally we see claims of people telling us when the last day will be. How can they possibly know that date when even Christ does not know?

What we are to do is be about our Master’s work. We are to be prepared for His return. We do this by abiding in Him, doing the work that He has given to us for the advancement of the Kingdom of God. We are to give our all to the Lord. We must do His will, spend time in prayer with Him, and we must read the word of God. We are to commit our all to God. In this manner, we shall be prepared for the second coming, the time of which is only known by the Father.
