Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: “‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes’? “Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit. Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.” When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard Jesus’ parables, they knew he was talking about them. They looked for a way to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowd because the people held that he was a prophet. Matthew 21:42-46 NIV

Finally, Jesus lets the Jewish leaders know that they are the tenants in the parable. He lets them know that the kingdom of Heaven shall be taken from them and given to those who produce good fruit. Just as Jesus warned the Jewish leaders of His day, we are warned today that we must bear fruit that is pleasing to God. We must work for His kingdom. We must repent of our sinful nature, and give ourselves over to Him. We must sacrifice our own desires for those of our Lord.

We all must face trials in life. How else can our faith in Christ be tested? It is through testing of faith that we learn to produce the fruit needed. In our faith being tested, we learn that we must lose control, as Christ takes control of our lives. Lose your worldly life for a life lived in Jesus Christ.
