Last of all, he sent his son to them. ‘They will respect my son,’ he said. “But when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and take his inheritance.’ So they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. “Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?” “He will bring those wretches to a wretched end,” they replied, “and he will rent the vineyard to other tenants, who will give him his share of the crop at harvest time.” Matthew 21:37-41 NIV

God sent His Only Son. Of course God knew the world would reject His Son. But Jesus came in order than man might be saved. Those who choose to believe in the Son are not tenants within Christ’s parable. They are servants sent by the landowner. The Jewish leaders could understand the evilness of the tenants in the parable, yet, they did not realize that in reality they belonged to the group of tenants in real life. They told Christ that the landowner would deal harshly with the tenants, not realizing that they were justifying their own forthcoming fate.

We are the servants of the landowner, sent to the tenants. Let us share good fruit, the Good News of Jesus Christ. It is what we have been called to do.
