Fellowship and the edification that accompanies it is a process that cannot be hurried through or rushed by our plans and agendas. It runs its own course at its own rate or pace, like dropping a rock into the middle of a deep lake. It doesn't strike the bottom instantly but moves at a prescribed speed according to fixed physical laws that we do not control. Although with fellowship it is not physical laws that are involved so much as spiritual ones, and it is not so much what sinks into the depths that comes into play but that which rises up and out from the depths of the surprised hearts of those so engaged. As my wife said recently, "let's just BE together and see where being leads.". Some of the best fellowship comes from just being together and seeing where being leads. Questions that we may not have known we had get answered. Hungers and longings we lost touch with get satisfied. So much of the training by Jesus of his first disciples occurred this way.
