Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.” Matthew 18:21-22 NIV

So, do we keep score on someone wronging us? That cannot be the attitude of a Christian, at least not to the extent of being willing to forgive the person. We might become more apprehensive in terms of trust, but this does not eliminate our need to be willing to forgive.

If God kept score with us on our sins, we would all be in very serious trouble. If our Lord is always willing to forgive us, if we truly repent, then, as His followers, we must do the same. We have no other acceptable alternative.

So, throw away that scorecard, and erase that scoreboard in your memory. You will find a peace in turning this over to the Lord.
