“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector. As Christians, we cannot possess the attitude of minding our own business.

We do not need to go looking everywhere for sin, just so we can point a finger at the one who commits sin. If we wish to do that, we should first point the finger at ourselves. What we are to do when we see sin, is to confidentially point it out to the person, without judging them. We can condemn the act, but not judge the person. Judgement lies with the Lord. Why must we get involved by pointing out sin to the one who commits it privately? We are our brother’s keeper. God wishes that none should perish. If one is enslaved to sin, we should be willing to point it out to them. We should be concerned about their eternal well-being.

If the individual will not heed our private discussion, then we need to involve at least two others that testimony might be supported by two or more witnesses. The object of this is not to intimated or belittle the offender, but, to get them to see their wrong ways, and to repent.

Have the eternal well-being of your brothers and sisters in Christ ever in mind. Be willing to speak to one if they stray away from the Lord’s path to this world’s desire of sinful ways.
