At that time Jesus went through the grain fields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them. When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, “Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath.” Matthew 12:1-2 NIV

Why were the Pharisees following Jesus and His disciples through fields of grain? It seemed as if they hounded these men, not giving them time to themselves. The Pharisees sure knew the laws established by man and were willing to condemn one for disobeying them. They stretched what God had meant about not working the Sabbath to cover that which they wished it to. They thought they knew what was important in the eyes of God, yet, they were so far from understanding that which is important in the eyes of God.

Instead of asking Jesus what was important to God, they only chose to reject Him, and all He had to say. Their minds were so closed to the truth. The learned were turned away by God with the kingdom given to those who were as little children.

Never let your mind be closed to God and that which He asks of you.
