A Firm Foundation

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” Matthew 7:24-27 NIV

Jesus is our rock, the foundation of our very existence. We know His teachings to be pure and righteous. We know He is our Savior. Without Him, we would live a life with no foundation, totally enslaved to this world, and its faulty foundation. This world cannot offer anything sound, solid, and firm. Jesus offers eternal life, while this world offers instant gratification. One lasts forever, while the other is quickly gone.

Do not let your eyes be blinded to the lies of this world. They shall all pass in due time, but, God, and those who love Him shall never pass.
