Ask, Seek, and Knock

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8 NIV

We who follow the Lord know that the above does not mean that we can ask or seek anything we want and expect to receive. The Lord knows that which is best for us. If we ask, and that which we ask for aligns with God’s will for us, it will be given unto us. If you don’t receive that for which you ask, maybe it is not truly in your best interest for God to fulfill your request. Or, maybe you will be asked to persevere and be patient.

Sometimes we must do more than ask. We must seek also. Here again, if that for which we seek brings us closer to God, we will find that for which we seek. Again, perseverance and patience may be needed.

Knocking at the door, seeking Christ and all that He provides is a need we must be able to acknowledge. If we knock at the door to the kingdom of God, with a repentant heart, wanting the Holy Trinity to indwell us, then expect to have the door opened unto you.

Ask, seek, and knock. These are all actions. We must take action in order to receive. We must take action to be and remain united to Christ. True Christians are not inactive. They communicate with God, read His word, and do actions to advance His kingdom.
