The Wrong Master

“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Matthew 6:24 NIV

What does Christ mean about serving money? I believe He is speaking of money as being one’s master, having control over an individual and what they do in action and word. The one who is enslaved to money has no time for others, and utilizing their resources to help others. They are concerned with their money and what it can do for them. One such as this has not the time, nor desire to truly serve God. Money brings spiritual blindness to such a person.

You can have money. You can spend time to wisely invest and utilize your money. But, do not let your money be in control of you. Consider the money you have to be a blessing from God, and utilize it accordingly. Your master must be God, and not your money.
