Spiritual Blindness

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! Matthew 6:22-23 NIV

This passage brings to my mind the need for us to have a “spiritual” eye. Having sound physical eye sight is a blessing, which many take for granted. But, we need spiritual eyes to be a true Christian. The spiritual eye is provided by the indwelling Spirit. With the spiritual eye we can see that which the world chooses not to see, the rampant evil which exists. The spiritual eye can aid us in seeing that which needs to be done for the Lord. Without the indwelling Spirit, we would be in deep darkness, the darkness which entraps those who belong to this world.

Do not allow yourself to be in spiritual darkness. If you abide there, you truly are lost. Be in Christ and let the Spirit indwell you. Then you shall have a truly healthy spiritual eye sight.
