“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:23-24 NIV

I believe reconciliation to one’s brothers and sisters is a gift to God. Jesus told us to love one another. If you truly love someone, if there is a difference between the two of you, it needs to be reconciled. A reconciled heart can freely bring gifts to God. A heart that is not fully reconciled has trouble in truly giving. One who is reconciled also provides a gift to themselves, better health. Issues which keep two apart can cause health issues due to resentments and other degenerative attitudes. God wants us to love one another, being at peace with each other.

Life is too short to be spent carrying negative attitudes and holding grudges. Be reconciled to your brothers and sisters, and then you will have an added gift to take to the altar.
