FAITH, HOPE, LOVE
What is it really what shapes one’s life? Is it ones choices, those unexpected circumstances that we do not have any control over or the people in our lives that we live with and come in contact with every day?
I would like to think that it is through our own life choices that we become who we are. I could write soppy beautiful words of the idealist describing how beautiful life is now matter the circumstances in our lives.
But life is not that simple. No matter how hard we try to strive for the ideal world where world peace reigns and all our dreams come true, the truth is life is much more complicated than our dreams and our assumptions how our ideal lives should be.
Sure we all dream of the perfect family, the white picket fence and the dog and cat waiting for us when we come home from the job we love. How ironic how the reality of everyday life have the tendency to burst our bubble of unrealistic high expectations.
How come no one ever prepare us for these realities of life? Is it because in facing these realities that there is still a child hiding in each one of us. Maybe, I do not really know. I believe no one can really pin point the reason why we still as adults thirst and hunger for happy endings even if we at the back of our minds know that happy endings is not always our reality.
Instead we are struggling with crippling mortgages, families falling apart because of pity differences or just the mere realities of struggling to make our relationships work with our spouses, children and friends amid a job we hate to do or the agony of a sick loved one struggling with a terminal disease we did not ask for them to have.
A lot of times we are drowning in our fear and pain and are ashamed to admit it. Since when did we allow society to sell us the lie that we can have any life we want, all that we have to do is to follow a ten step plan then we will have the life that we all are striving for.
We all look the stark reality of real life in the eyes every day. From the 8 to 5 office worker who go to a job every day to make sure his family is taken care off to the billionaire that can live the lifestyle our average Joes can only dream about. We all are facing our daily struggles, even if we only face the struggles of our own demons of fear and insecurities within ourselves.
Yet in all these struggles there is always a ray of sunshine of hope, faith and love that gives us the courage to go on with life amidst of our fears and pain. Along the road of just living life we realized that in the darkness there is always a light shining. A hope for a better tomorrow, a better day or just simply a knowing that we will survive the current circumstances we are facing although we do not see the end just yet.
Yes, I am still a believer in my Heavenly Father and yes I still love Jesus Christ my Savior with all of my heart and yes I love and cherish the Holy Spirit inside and by my side every day. I will not have it any other way. It is in Them that I find my solace when the reality of life is overwhelming me.
I am not trying to sell religion to you; I am only trying to say that in times of struggling we all need to have faith in something or Someone far more bigger than our realities of life that a lot of times can overwhelm us. It is after all in this faith that we find the hope and love we need to go on. To keep on trying to live life the best we can.
Maybe you do not believe. Maybe you try to make sense of your realities of life as most of us are. Open the eyes of your heart towards those little rays of sunshine that is all around you; your first cup of coffee in the morning, the laughter of a small child, the beautiful simplicity of flowers or just the mere satisfaction of success when you have fulfilled a dream that seemed impossible.
I guess that the secret is that when we come to the realization that we do not have to have picture perfect lives in order to have fulfillment; that to live in the moments of that little rays of sunshine of hope, love and faith amidst of our daily struggles brings us real fulfillment, that feeling of contentment and peace every one of us long for.
May 2018 be the year that fills you with wonder and awe as you live life through the heart and eyes of the small child in you.
