Imagine, a man, looking like John the Baptist, making a presentation at a major board meeting for a large, successful corporation. What would the audience think? I don’t imagine the audience would have a very high view of the man, or his presentation.
It is so wonderful that God views what is important much differently than mankind. God is concerned with what is contained within rather than outward appearance. Outward appearance can be deceiving and lying. That which is within reflects true character.
Don’t fret if you don’t have the nicest of clothing. If your outward appearance falls short of what is approved by man, fear not. You are still desired by the Lord. He still seeks for you to share Him with others. Your heart is what matters to Christ. He wants your heart. Only you can give your heart to Christ. It is your decision that is required. Once you give your heart to Him, He will find a way to use you to bring glory to the name of the Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ.
Be like John the Baptist, not like unbelieving beings!

For sure, God looks on the inside and not on outward appearances, surface glitter - which you see this time of year.
I read a story on Facebook some time ago - and I heard this true story was made into a movie. An upscale church got a new pastor and I think, as the story goes, didn't know what he looked like. Not sure. Anyway, the new pastor donned a homeless look, with a burlap draped over him, and sat outside the church before it started. He was ushered in but put in the back, out of the way. When it was announced that the church was waiting for the new pastor to arrive, the new pastor took off his sack and said "I'm the new pastor." I guess he had good material for preaching sermons on judgmentalism!
