Awareness, Obedience, and Fulfillment

But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee, and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene. Matthew 2:22-23 NIV

Today’s scripture reading bears three things for we who follow Christ.

First, we must be alert. Joseph was alert in realizing that Archelaus was reigning in Judea, which brought fear to him in terms of residing there. We must be alert to the evil which surrounds us. When we are alert God can speak to us as to what we should do. Do not be ignorant to the evil which surrounds you. Keep up your praying and reading of God’s word. God communicates with us when we communicate with Him.

Joseph obeyed the warning given to him in a fourth dream by an angel. God is truly pleased when we obey Him. Why should we not do so, as He knows what is best for us? He will not tempt us, but, will deliver us from evil if we ask Him to do so. Pray often for deliverance from evil, as it surrounds you. God is the only one who can deliver you from evil.

Just as Joseph taking Mary and Jesus, and residing in Nazareth, fulfilled the Old Testament prophecy, when we are obedient to God, His will for us will be fulfilled. God’s will shall be accomplished. When we are obedient, our well-being is fulfilled through God.

Awareness, obedience, and fulfillment of God’s will. Pray for all of these. You are in God’s hands!
