When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. Matthew 2:16 NIV

There are many occasions today of mass killings. Just in the past month we have seen multiple individuals killed in NYC and a small Texas town. There is evil everywhere, and crimes committed by ruthless individuals.

The same happened when Jesus was a child. A ruthless king discovered that he had been outwitted by Magi, and he became ragingly mad. Many infant boys paid for this madness with their lives. This act of evil, though, had been prophesied.

Why does God allow these events to occur? Many responses have been offered to this question. It is hard for us to understand. Yet, all that occurs does have a reason. This will all fit together when this world breathes its last. For now, we must trust in God, pray for those who are harmed or killed, and ask for protection against evil. We must also pray for all people, even those of evil deeds. There is still time for those who are evil to have a change in heart and turn to the Lord.
