Another Dream for Joseph

When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.” So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called my son.” Matthew 2:13-14 NIV

Another dream for Joseph, with another action of obedience for him to carry out. Now, Herod was searching for the newborn king to kill him. Joseph carried out the command of the angel. In so doing he also aided in fulfillment of a prophecy made over 700 years earlier.

It is amazing to see the fulfillment of so many prophecies contained within the Holy Bible. This involved people separated by 700 years. It also involved an angel.

While safely residing in Egypt, the Holy baby and His earthly parents awaited the death of king Herod. The wait was not very long, as Jesus was still quite young when they were called out of Egypt and traveled to Nazareth, where Jesus spent most of His childhood years.

Just as Joseph, did all that was asked of him by the angel of the Lord, we who follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit assist in advancing God’s kingdom.

King Herod in his final days suffered excruciating pain from what was called chronic kidney disease. There are conflicting accounts as to if he committed suicide, or was unsuccessful in his attempting to do so.
