The other day I saw a bumper sticker that said, “Never drive faster
than your guardian angel can fly.”

Are you in the habit of praying and asking God for safety just before
you go on a trip? If, on that trip, you break the speed limit, is God
still obligated to answer your prayer? I’ll let you wrestle with that
one.

In today’s culture, many people, some Christians included, think
nothing of bending the rules to suit their own agenda. It’s a “me”
society. “What works for me is what I go with” seems to be the rule.

Not only should we resist the temptation to go with the flow of
“anything goes,” but we have a wonderful opportunity to stand up
and be counted for God and show that the whole world is not one
mass of gray -- there still are black & white issues. There still exists
right and wrong. However, in so doing we need to demonstrate the
love of Christ and not have a “better than thou” or a feisty attitude.

In Heb. 10:24 (gnb) we read: “Let us be concerned for one another,
to help one another to show love and to do good.” Even in taking a
stand, we want to be a stepping stone to Christ, not a stumbling
block. Enjoy your walk with God today -- be a rock, not a block!
