For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. Ephesians 2:14-16 NIV

Many today seek peace: peace for their country, peace within neighborhoods and families, oh, and yes, peace of mind and soul. What many cannot see though, is that true peace can only be found in and through Jesus Christ. The peace that this world offers is not true peace, for it is usually conditional and lasts a short time period. The peace which Jesus Christ offers is a true peace, a peace of mind, soul, and body. It is a peace which this world cannot recognize, nor understand.

Jesus Christ, through His life, and His sacrifice on our behalf, brings peace through the cross. Peace through the cross? That is a concept this world cannot grasp. Christ, through His sacrifice unites all who believe in Him. Jews and Gentiles, different nationalities, people of differing levels of education: Christ unites them all, if they are true believers in Christ.

Yet, at times we bicker and feud over matters which Christ has meant for us to set aside. We are to be at peace with one another and work on advancing the kingdom of God.

Christ wished to create within Himself, one, united humanity. We must look at the barriers that separate us, and through prayer, and guidance by the Spirit of God, break down these barriers which separate us. God does not wish us to be at adversity with one another. All that we should be averse to is evil. Live in Christ, and enjoy His peace. Share His peace with all you meet.
