Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands)—remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. Ephesians 2:10-13 NIV

Prior to the coming of Jesus Christ, God’s chosen people, the ones with whom He had a covenant were the Israelites. Each male of the Israelites was to be circumcised. The Gentiles were not a part of God’s chosen people at that time.

But, with the coming of Jesus Christ, all who choose to believe in Him, and follow in His ways, are united together as God’s chosen children. We are united by the blood that our Lord shed on the cross, in our behalf.

It no longer matters whether one is Jew or Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, woman or man, servant or not. What matters to our Father in Heaven is whether or not we believe in His Son, whom He sent to us to be our redeemer.

The blood of Christ is powerful enough to unite all who believe in Him. It is the redemption which was paid on our behalf. There is no other way to salvation than through the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on our behalf at Calvary.
