As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. Ephesians 2:1-3 NIV

These three verses do no paint a pretty picture of how each of us use to be. We were at one time of this world, giving in to the desires of this world. We sought for ourselves, with more concern about ourselves than about others. We were under the control of the evil one, even if we chose not to admit it. In this manner, we, like all unbelievers certainly deserved the wrath of God.

God detests evil, and all that accompanies it. Evil cannot stand in the presence of God. We are so fortunate that God’s wrath is often held back by him. If not, I dare say we would all be in deep trouble at times in our lives.

The evil one is quite deceitful, and cunning. He has an arsenal which he uses to lure us from following God. Instant gratification is highly desirable by many, and Satan knows this well. He is working through those who are disobedient, working at hindering the advancement of God’s kingdom.

Satan also knows that his time of destruction is short-lived in eternity. The victory has already been won by Christ. The time will come when the devil, and all who follow him will be cast into hell permanently.

You now belong to Christ. Follow in His footsteps, doing His will. You have true life through Him.
