It seemed like another
drudge and din moment in life.
After over-indulging
on things that didn’t ever live
or taste anything close to great;
That left me tired and hung-over.
The stupid choices of yesterday
made me search for a fresh new way.
I tell myself: Don’t beat yourself up;
You are getting back up.
It was just a slip from grace.
Now’s a good time to figure out
why I turned that way
I was just sitting at the patio table
when I smelled something enchanting...
It was none other than the scent of God.
If I must be real, it was cedar mulch
baking in the mid-summer sun
among light pink alfalfa
spilling all over the ledge of a rock.
Beyond was the sound of refreshing
splashes from a water fountain in a pond.
With a slight cool breeze
against the fiery summer heat
landing on my shoeless feet.
It almost came close to
the touch of a heavenly massage.
I turn the corner and spy
the vibrant oasis
bubbling from seven spouts
creating a mosaic design
that only I would find today.
From the result of froth and spray;
who would guess there
would be this display?
Tears washing my face;
I am intoxicated and amazed
that He did this just for me.
With conditions just so
and timing just right
for the first time,
in a very long time
I could say:
There is no other place
I’d rather linger in til the night.
