have opened their mouths against me;
they have spoken against me with lying tongues.
3 With words of hatred they surround me;
they attack me without cause.
4 In return for my friendship they accuse me,
but I am a man of prayer.
5 They repay me evil for good,
and hatred for my friendship."

There have been times in life, for all of us I'm sure, where someone somewhere has lied about you.
It can happen plenty of ways, gossip, rumors. Word of mouth. God says a wicked heart will be convinced by a deceitful tongue.
Unfortunately, it happens plenty in todays church. There will always be people who claim to know God, but do not. And they spread lies more oft than not. Some live for drama, and the constant struggle of causing Chaos. Wicked hearts.
I suppose this can tie into my last article about communication. God says we will be seekers of truth. (Proverbs 18:15)
When gossip is spread, do not spread it as well. Pray God moves through people and ends the confusion. Pray that the Father will cause us to seek knowledge and ignore the stuff in the background.

Because we cannot avoid lies, or gossip in places where people meet, it comes down to how we as God's children react to it.
In Psalm 109, David writes a song that just does not seem to be made for singing. He doesn't hold back his rage, and creates a curse that makes me cringe. He sees how distructive lies can be, and will not tollerate it in his presence.
But reading it is almost embarrassing, it doesn't feel to me to have the kind of love God calls upon us to have in life.
Though God is wrathful, calling upon him to curse my enemy seems wrong. Are we not called to "Love thine enemy"? (Matthew 5:44)

David doesn't show a very good example of finding God's grace in being ridiculed.

I immediately seeked out counsil over this matter, and prayed about it. I prayed that God would remove doubt, and that God would not let hearts be deceived by a deceitful tongue.
Of course, my nature caused me to be angry at first. It's a particularly touchy case, as it involves an individual I've trusted and who knows me probably better than anyone.

It all comes down to how we react.
2 Corinthians 2:9;
"9 Another reason I wrote you was to see if you would stand the test and be obedient in everything.
10 Anyone you forgive, I also forgive, And what I have forgiven -if there was anything to forgive- I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake. 11 in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes."

I choose to forgive, to pray. But that does not mean to simply forget, we have a right to defend ourselves. This comes back to my recent article.
Confontation is a part of faith. Holding others accountable. I choose to live in the light, those in darkness will have the light shown on them and it will come back.
We do not need to be wrathful, as David shows... For God is full of wrath for us.
He will defend his children. When we cry, God cries with us.
The bible says we will see increasing hate, and anger. I've seen a rise of it in the world. And it seems the closer I get to God in my pain, the more hate can be brought to me in my enemy.
Satan wants us to turn in anger. Be steadfast.
When we hurt, so does God.
He will carry us when we are weak.
He will come when we pray.
He will take our lives if we ask.
He has our hearts, our minds.
We just have to open up.
Where is your faith?

Where is your grace?
