In love, he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. Ephesians 1:5-6 NIV

At times, Paul gets a bit wordy with his writings. Let’s break this short two verse passage down, so that we can feast on God’s word.

First, God does so much for us out of His love. He has given us grace, and done so freely. He did so out of His will, and He was pleased to do so. Think about the awesomeness of this fact. The Almighty God, creator of everything, out of His wili, and His pleasure has provided us with grace, and freely. Isn’t that mind boggling?

Next, we were predestined for adoption to sonship. We talked about predestined in yesterday’s message. Isn’t it so wonderful to know that we are adopted children of the Heavenly Father? He loves us enough to want us to have that status.

And, finally, we must remember that all of this is given to us by the Heavenly Father through His Son, Jesus Christ. It is this way so that we who believe will give praise to the Son, as well as to the Father. All that is done for mankind by the Father is done through His Son, Jesus Christ. Christ is our Savior. He is our mediator. He stands before the Heavenly Father, interceding on behalf of all those who believe in Him.

Through the Father and the Son, we have all the blessings we could possibly need. We can then carry out the work given to us in advancing God’s kingdom. God’s love gives us what we need. Thank you, God for your steadfast, everlasting love for us, AMEN!!
