When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God. Luke 24:50-53 NIV

The final act of Jesus while He was still present on earth was to bless the disciples. Jesus came to serve, and not to be served. So it is fitting that this was His final action while among mankind.

What was in the hearts of the disciples? Worship of the Lord was there. Now that their minds had been opened, they knew why it was so and wished to worship the Lord. Joy filled their hearts. This is a joy that cannot be matched in any manner by something of this world. It is the joy of Christ. Their mouths were filled with praise. Praise for the Lord was on their lips.

We, the followers of Christ today, are blessed by Him. We are so blessed, and it is wonderful to know that we are blessed by Him. Our hearts are filled with the joy of Christ. Our hearts sing because of Him! Our hearts have a fire that burns within them. It is the fire of the love of God dwelling within! We worship our Lord in wonder and awe. How is it that the one who created everything would look so lovingly upon us and want all which is good for us? It is mind boggling. We have no choice but to praise our God for all He is and all He does! He is the Almighty forever and ever! AMEN!!
