Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching, and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus, for they were afraid of the people. Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve. And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus. They were delighted and agreed to give him money. He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present. Luke 22:1-6 NIV

Even today, Satan is at work, using false believers in Christ to proclaim a gospel other than that of Jesus Christ. There are those out there who lead lost souls away from the true gospel. Some may do it out of true ignorance, but more of them do it as there is some earthly desires made available to them for their deceiving actions. Some do it for money, some for other material possessions, and some for fame.

Two types of false gospels being preached are that one will be materially prosperous if they give themselves to Christ, or that we have power within ourselves to earn salvation and grace from God. These, and other doctrines like it are truly false and quite deceiving.

The Lord has told us that those who lead lost souls astray will be held accountable for doing so. It would have been better for them if they had a stone cast around their neck and they were then thrown into the sea.

Be sure to speak only of the true gospel of Jesus Christ.
