God Blesses Us And We Give It Away

Sometime God blesses us and promises us blessings and we don’t want to wait on the fullness of the blessing, so we give it away.

In Genesis 16:1-6, Sarai gives her husband that God blessed her with to another woman.

God had promised them children, but Sarai wanted them now. She couldn’t trust God to fulfill his promise in his time. Instead of waiting on the promise, she decided she would make things happen herself. Well that’s the wrong answer. She second-guessed what God’s plan for her was and listened to the Devil, thereby missing God.

Some of us have missed the husband or wife of God’s choice for us by doing things our way. We want it now.

Sarai became anxious. Philippians 4:6-8 reminds us to be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and thanksgiving, wait. By her being anxious, she gave reign to the Devil and gave up more than she wanted to. Sometime we give more than we receive by going before God. We have to learn to wait. Stand still and see the salvation of God.

How could she think that she would obtain a child through Haggar? That’s Haggar’s baby, Haggar and Abram that they enjoyed together. As you know Abram gladly hearkened to the voice of his wife. He knew it was wrong but he was considering a child coming forth, he was in it for the pleasure he would receive freely from another woman, given him with permission. Adultery with permission was legal in that time. I promise you, it won’t happen in this time, not normally. Surely Sarai must have loved Abram dearly, but look at what happened after the morning came and Haggar had conceived. Sarai was sorely grieved. She was sorry. Isn’t that’s how we are when we go before God and sin, miss our blessing and God bless someone else with it. Usually we get something that isn’t what God has ordained for us and it never works out.

Now, Sarai had no business depising Haggar for what she gave permission to happen. Haggar was her maid and did what was required of her. She realized her wrong. How must God have felt at his disappointment in Abram and Sarai for not believing that he was able to do just what he said? As God had promised them a son, even though Sarai’s womb was barren. How much can God do something with nothing or something that’s dead if we trust him?

It doesn’t matter if God promised it 10 years ago; he is not slack concerning his promises.
If God said you shall walk in favor, you will.
If God said you shall be blessed above measure you will.
If he says you will be a millionaire, you will.
Whatever he promise he will do, wait on him.
Faith is believing, and not yet not seeing.

God had to remind Abram of his promise when Abram wanted to adopt an heir in Genesis 15:2-4. In verse 6 his belief in God was counted to his for righteousness. So Satan first came to Abram and Abram decided to believe God. Then Satan left Abram and went to Sarai. He used Sarai through an emotional attack for which Abram wanting to please his wife disobeyed God, just as Adam did with Eve. Men, you just have to be men and do what God say, even if it costs you your marriage. It’s better to be single, then out of the will of God. Women too. Sometime we just got to be quiet when God has already spoken. Most times the things we choose to be a blessing; usually turn out to be despised by you.

God tells you to buy a second hand car because you aren’t ready for a new one. The salesman say, oh your credit is good and you can get a new one. Well whom are you going to listen to? Well you may qualify for a new one, but it may take you outside of your budget and every month you are struggling. Well guess what, the car you was enjoying is now causing you pain and headache, so you will eventually despise having it. Especially if the parts start breaking prematurely and you can’t afford to fix it and pay a note.

Some time we fall in love and it may be someone we want, but not the one God says he wants us to have, and we are forever sorry. We can look and see every thing wrong with the person, when we wake up out of our dream.

Sarai was dreaming. She dreamed of having a child one way or another. She had waited ten years on the promise and didn’t think she wanted to wait any longer. Well guess what, she spent the rest of her life with that one mistake. She had to look at that mistake and remember her husband being with that woman that gave him his first child.

When we go before God, we messes up and most times it’s a life- time mess.

Next time God promises you a blessing, don’t let Satan make you throw it away. He can’t take it, he just trick you into giving it up.

Some decisions in our lives, some of the blessings we have thrown away, was our lifetime blessing. It was our God purpose for being in this earth. Some of our ministries are so far behind time because of our failure to obey God’s instructions. Some of the people we despise telling us anything concerning our life, are the one who holds the foundational key to our destiny and purpose. It’s Satan’s job to destroy that destiny and we through disobedience and ignorance will never get there if we don’t wake up.

Because sin is prevalent and raging in our lives, we won’t let it go long enough to try God. If you give God the chance he wants, he will prove himself.

Sarai gave and gave and gave until she learned to trust God. Then God because he is God gave her a child way past her childbearing age. Only God can do the impossible. You will soon come to realize that you can do nothing for God in you own strength. You need the Lord. A blessing is this; except God does it, it can’t be done. But God waited until an impossible time (according to nature she was done with bearing children) to show them that it is he that had promised. God doesn’t move in our time, but he moves in time when we line our minds, hearts and total being into his will. Not my will be done, but thy will be done. God is faithful that hath promised.

Trust in God,
Have faith in God
Don’t give up on the promise
If God said it, then just believe it
If God said it, then just receive it
If God said it, he meant just what he said, wait on him
