Be Careful Of Your Stewardship
Titus 2:1-5

Careful – Cautious in thought, speech or action, circumspect, prudent, thorough, pain taking, conscientious, protective, full of cares or anxiety.

Stewardship – being in charge of something entrusted in your care to manage, administrate, supervise or an officer

Steward – one who manages another’s property, finances, or other affairs; an administrator, supervisor, one in charge of something. An officer

Titus 2:1-5
God here is giving a charge to Titus through Paul to perform a task, that is to be the steward God has called you to be.
He was talking to the elderly people, not necessarily one who holds an office of elder. He exhorts them to be sober (habitually abstemious, not intoxicated, straight forward in character, serious or grave, plain or subdued, without frivitoity, excess exaggeration or speculative imagination) characterized by self-control or sanity, reasonable, rational
Grave – dignified, extremely serious, important, weighty, dignified in conduct
Temperate – prudent and thoughtful, exercising moderation and self restraint
Sound in faith- healthy in the faith, having a firm basis, solid unshakable, founded on valid reasoning, sensible and correct, unbroken, undisturbed, free from moral defect, upright, honorable, trustworthy.

The women likewise with the same demeanor as the men to be in behavior as become holiness, teachers of good things, to teach and live by example.

God has given up stewardship to us to manage and supervise his most prized possession, man. In that since they belong to God we have to be careful how we handle them. Often times we are put in charge over things and we have to be careful to do things the right way, the first time. God entrusts things in our care and many times we aren’t handling them the way he is leading us to.

He gifts us and gives us talents for which we use in everyday life. With these talents we have to seek God’s guidance in how to use them and properly. We have to walk worthy in the vocation for which we are called.

Talent – a mental or physical aptitude, specific natural or acquired ability, natural endowment or ability of a superior quality. Gifted people collectively.

Matthews 25:14-30 emphasizes the need for personal preparedness and faithful service to the master. Gifts and talents are distributed according as ability. God’s not going to give a blind man a talent to lead nobody when he can’t see himself. Daniel in Daniel 2:46-69, gift brought him before King Nebuchadnezzar and the King rewarded him. Your gift will bring you before great men. The King fell on his face and worshipped Daniel. But Daniel didn’t think only of himself. He took with him Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to be over the affairs of the province of Babylon.

Daniel sat in the gate of the King. His gift brought more gifts. Your gift should bring more. It never stands alone. Gifts don’t like being alone. There would be no one to appreciate them. They like to know they are appreciated.

Daniel prayed three times a day and he could interpret dreams. King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream and no one in the kingdom could interpret it. Not the magicians, the warlocks, the soccerors, the astrologers, no one. But then someone told him about a man who prayed and was of God and had a gift. Your gift will make room for you and bring you before great men. His dream was a divinely intended prophetic view of the future. In other words, he had a vision. And the vision had him so upset that he was going to kill all of his people that couldn’t interpret it, but Daniel saved them all. Daniel’s Gift was God’s ram in the bush to yet save mankind from destruction. God used Daniel and Daniel was a good steward over that which God had entrusted to him. Some of us would have sold our knowledge to the king for silver and gold. Our talent is not to be sold or used for usury. We should not prostitute the Gospel.

Walk worthy of your vocation and calling. Be careful of your stewardship. To do this you have to live a righteous life, staying on the highway. Shedrach, Meshach, and Abednigo didn't bow to the King and was put in the fiery furnace with the fire turned up seven times hotter, but they didn’t bow. They stayed with God, faithful to what they believed.

In Isaiah 35:8
And a highway shall be there and a way and it shall be called the way of holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those, the wayfaring (those traveling especially on foot. A course from one place to another) though fools (one who shows himself by word or action to be deficient, lacking an essential quality or element, incomplete, defective, inadequate in amount or degree, insufficient in judgment, sense or understanding, a stupid or thoughtless person) shall not err therein.

There is a way that we take and it’s the way of holiness. It’s a straight and narrow line down the middle of the road and we have to walk that line to stay on the highway. We can’t sway to the left or the right.

God has given us stewardship over our body, although they don’t belong to us. We have to be careful how we treat them, how we do to care for them and where we take them.

He has told us in Ezekiel 33, that the blood will be required at our hands for not doing what we are suppose to do. If we mistreat our self, engage in sin, we would surely die, unless we repent and turn from sin and evil to do right. But then in the 18th verse we find that when we turn from our righteousness and commit iniquity, we shall die. We have to realize that the stewardship over our own bodies can have negative consequences. Wake up, do your ways please God or do they take you down hell’s highway.

God is looking for more righteous people, not self-righteous people, he has enough of them.

You have to remember that people see and do remember your wrong and sometime your wrong keep them from coming to Christ. You have blood on your hands.

God wants us to be delivered and when we are, then and only then can we walk an undefeated life. Be careful of your stewardship.

For the grace of God that brings salvation is on that highway, waiting on you and has appeared to all men. It teaches us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world.

We look for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our saviour Jesus Christ. Live righteously and stay on the highway. Be careful of your stewardship. Adam was our head of the human race. We all were in the body of Adam and when he sinned, that part is shared among all of us, in that we are still falling. He voted sin in for us and it’s our choice to vote sin out. The obedience of Christ has made this possible. Jesus has given us that choice.

Many times we look at our loved ones and see that they won’t obey God or us and it drives us to repentance of ever disobeying God. We go through life everyday and we try to live as close to God as we can and then there are others that just don’t care about us, themselves or God, yet they say that they love God, but won’t obey him. They don’t want to give up anything. Yet God only give us a short time to repent before he executes his wrath. Anything we do to defile his temple causes us to lose our stewardship to the enemy and God is not pleased. What you are saying is that God is not able to deliver you.

We are without excuse. Jesus blood did all the work. We don’t need to work at it. We need to believe on Jesus. For we are justified through faith and God commended his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. So therefore if we repent and be reconciled to him, we are justified through his blood we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Our talents and righteous living will bring us to the peace of God, because then we are free to serve. Being free to serve we are careful of our stewardship and we will follow peace. Hebrews 12:14 say to follow peace with all men and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord. Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. Look for peace in everything. You have peace when you are redeemed. You need a pure heart, for God say you are blessed, blessed is the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God. If you die a child of God peace is your name. You are at peace with God and desire to live in peace with all men; therefore you are an ambassador to the troubled world for which you are a steward over. Your exhibition of having that quality of a changed life makes you a citizen of heaven and your stewardship will bring someone else with you.

He didn’t say that persecution along the way wasn’t going to be there, but follow peace in every situation.

Being a good steward over what God has put in your care keeps you on the right highway regardless of what comes or goes.

You are breaking to a breakthrough

Luke 12:42
And the Lord said, who then is that faithful and wise steward whom his Lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season.
Blessed is that servant, whom his Lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath
And the servant that knew the Lord’s will and prepared not himself; neither did according to his will shall be beaten with many stripes
But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes
For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required; and to whom men have committed much of him they will ask the more.

II Timothy 1:14
That good thing which was committed unto thee kept by the Holy Ghost, which dwells in us.

Servants have a heavy responsibility as followers of Christ.
Are you found to be a good steward in all that God has entrusted into your care?

Or are you being found lack in what he has gifted you to do?
Will God say well done thou good and faithful servant or will he say; depart from me, I know you not.
Will you work your talents to prosper the kingdom or do you only think of yourself?
Do you render good stewardship over what God has blessed you with? Do you pay your tithes and offering faithfully? Can you be found worthy?
Is your living righteous, are you walking that straight and narrow?
Is your stewardship lacking in the area of peace, or are you messy.

If your stewardship is lacking, and then you are incarcerated, put in jail, shut in, confined, in prison, in an enclosed place. Your mind is not functioning, as it should. Philippians 2:5 say, let this mind be in me that was also in Christ Jesus. Jesus was a good steward, not lacking anywhere. To many of us are free, not locked up, but bound in our mind. We are unable to keep that which God has committed into our care.
We are on Lockdown, rigid, unmovable, jammed or forced together to make unmovable. We are in spiritual lockdown, a hole you put yourself in. Punished without a cause, just because God lives inside.

When God’s spirit Click in us, our heart, our eyes, our hearing, will be loosed from everything that hinder you from serving him.
Some of us maybe bound by husbands, some by wives, some by jobs, and whatever the hindrance is, we need to be set free.

We can be incarcerated in our hearts, holding things dear that don’t matter. Things that don’t love us back.

Our Stewardship over God’s affairs is the most important thing in our life and the sooner we realize it the sooner we are free.
