Servants and Subjects

“A man of noble birth went to a distant country to have himself appointed king and then to return. So, he called ten of his servants and gave them ten minas. ‘Put this money to work,’ he said, ‘until I come back.’ But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, ‘We don’t want this man to be our king.’” Luke 19:12-14 NIV

Christ is as this noble man. Christ is with the Heavenly Father, but, He shall return for those who belong to Him. He has given to each of us blessings which are to be used for the advancement of the kingdom. We each have gifts given. They are not meant to be put on a mantle or framed and put on a wall to be admired. They are meant to be utilized. Christ wishes to see how each of us use the blessings we have been given. We must take this seriously. We will each make an accounting to the Lord of how we utilized that which we have been given.

The servants are different from the subjects in Christ’s parable. The subjects are as those who do not accept Christ. These choose to live a life of self-indulgence and worldly materialism. These are truly short sighted. They do not know that their gains are very short lived, and that eternal doom awaits them.

Be as one of the true servants and not as one of the subjects.
