Are You Like Zacchaeus?

In Luke 19:1-10 we read the heart-warming account of Jesus’ encounter with Zacchaeus.

Zacchaeus was short in physical stature. In what manner are you “short”? Is your stature short in terms of material items or fame? Do you often feel left behind in this world, of less worth than most?

Zacchaeus overcame the issue of his physical stature by climbing a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus? What was your sycamore tree? What did you use as a tool to help you overcome your lack of worldly stature in order to see Jesus?

If you do have material means, are you ready to let go of them, just as Zacchaeus did? Jesus came to be with you, to live in your heart and soul. Have you sacrificed that which He has asked of you? Do you not wish Christ to say to you “Salvation has come to this house today.”?

Lose your desire to cling to anything that keeps you from being pleasing in the eyes of the Lord.  Receive the eternal inheritance set aside for those who are God’s children. The only stature that really matters is the stature before God. Humble yourself that God may exalt you! Be like Zacchaeus.
