From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. Luke 12:48b NIV

Christ’s words here are certainly applicable to things of this world. For example, a corporate manager is paid well, but is expected to deliver appropriate results for the provided compensation. Those at a higher level, such as a CEO are entrusted with the overall betterment of the corporation. Even much more is expected from them.

Let us now apply Christ’s words to the life of the Christian. We are given many blessings by and through Christ. We are not to “sit” on these blessings, but are asked to use them for the advancement of God’s kingdom. Yes, demands are placed upon us for the blessings we receive. Yet Christ provides us with that which we need in order to properly utilize our blessings. We have been given the Holy Spirit. Those who have been entrusted with more, such as spiritual leaders, have more asked of them by the Lord. To bear good fruit for the Lord, we must use what we have been given to advance God’s kingdom. Why should any true blessing sit and not be utilized? It then is a waste. Always pray that through the Holy Spirit, the Lord will reveal to you how to utilize your blessings for the advancement of God’s kingdom.
