Where Lies Your Treasure?

“Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Luke 12:32-34 NIV

What a truly wonderful scripture passage lies herein.

What comes to mind when you think of the word treasure? To me I think of abundant riches. One can be either wealthy in material possessions, or with spiritual blessings.

How fantastic is it to know that the Heavenly Father is pleased to give us the kingdom of Heaven. Think about it. God Almighty is PLEASED to give us His kingdom. Wow! To me this is mind boggling.

Why are we told to sell our possessions? We do not truly have a need of material possessions. That which we need will be provided to us by the Heavenly Father. We are to seek His kingdom, and we will be provided with all the treasures associated with His kingdom. Purses that hold heavenly treasures shall not wear out. Heavenly treasures shall remain with the believer for all eternity. A heavenly treasure will never fail its recipient. No one will be able to take the treasure away, and nothing can destroy the heavenly treasure. Tell me of any earthly treasure that can do as what a heavenly treasure can do.

It is so true: where one’s treasure lies, there will their heart be. Seek the kingdom of God with your whole heart and you will be provided with heavenly treasures. You shall be blessed beyond your wildest dreams!
