Do Not Be Led Astray

Meanwhile, when a crowd of many thousands had gathered, so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus began to speak first to his disciples, saying: “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.” Luke 12:1-3 NIV

 

We who follow Christ must be on guard against the yeast of today’s Pharisees. Christ makes it quite clear in this passage that nothing will remain hidden. The true intentions of everyone’s heart will be brought to light on the judgement day. Nothing can escape the Lord. Nothing can be truly hidden from Him. God know what is truly in the heart of everyone.

 

Those who are truly foolish think they can put up a front before the Lord. They will come to find they have dreadfully erred. The ones who put up a false front are the ones we need to watch out for so that we are not lead astray by them and their true intentions.




Through the discernment provided by the indwelling Holy Spirit, we can test these false believers, and take appropriate action to have ourselves protected against them. There are various true intentions behind these false believers. We need not know the particular intention. We just need to know that their intentions are not truly for the will of the Lord.

 

Pray that the Holy Spirit will provide you with discernment of true versus false believers. Let npt you heart be lead astray from the Lord!
