THE GARDEN

There's a garden near the city
Where our Savior was crucified,
Where He kneeled to pray the night before,
And to His Father cried,
"O Father, if it be thy will
Remove this cup of mine . . ."
Then humbly said he, on bended knee,
"Not my will, Lord, but thine."
It wasn't long till soldiers came
And took our Lord away.
"Betrayst me with a kiss?"
To Judus he did say.
And though ten thousand angels
He could have called down from the sky,
He went to drink the bitter cup
Which now before Him lie.
In that quiet, restful garden,
Our Lord had kneeled to pray,
While only at a stone's throw
Three disciples slept away.
It was there He found new courage
To face the enemy;
I'm so thankful for that garden
They call Gethsemane.
