Arising as the sun seeps through to streak
The faces cased in odd-sized photo frames,
Her feet slip into funny bunny shoes.
She calls the roll of all the family names.
As one by one they shake off slumber’s grip
She preps them for the tasks the day will bring
The job, the school, the sports, and all, and yet
She keeps her cool and even starts to sing.
Physician, mender, cook, and referee,
Her skills surpass the greatest of them all;
Magician in the guise of wife and mom,
Attendant to a high and noble call.
The work is hard, the hours long and rough;
But tell her that the pay’s not good enough!
