Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her. So he bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them. At sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them. Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Messiah. At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” And he kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea. Luke 4:38-44 NIV

Here we have the physician Luke letting us know about more healings which our Lord performed for those in need.

First, Christ rebuked a high fever which troubled Peter’s mother-in-law. Then Christ cured all who were brought to Him with multitudes of different sicknesses and ailments.

We close the chapter with Luke telling us that Christ said “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” Do you see the healing contained within this verse? Christ was sent to proclaim the Good News of the kingdom of God. This is GOOD NEWS as it is the news that can set captives free. This is the news which can free the heart, mind, and soul from bondage to sin, to the evil one and all who belong to him. This is the news that can provide eternal life to those who believe. This is the news that will provide salvation and redemption. Is this not truly the ultimate in healing? Can any healing be more powerful than this healing? There cannot be a healing more needed by mankind than the true healing which only Christ can provide. Our physical bodies do have times of needing healing, but through Christ we have an eternal healing for our hearts, minds, and souls! Praise Him always for this healing He alone provides to us!
