Believe and Receive Abundantly

One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God. He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. Luke 5:1-7 NIV

Herein we see the faith filled side of Peter. He and his fellow fishermen had been out all night, but they had not caught anything. Yet, as the Lord had said to put out into the deep water and cast their nets, Peter said it would be done. Peter did not know what would happen, but, he obeyed the Lord.

For us today, we may see faith as Peter showed a bit more difficult. Jesus was speaking to Peter in the flesh. Peter could see the Lord with his eyes. He could hear the Lord with His ears. We must see and hear the Lord with our hearts, minds, and souls. We have been given the Holy Spirit to help us. If we truly surrender ourselves to Christ, we will be led by the Spirit, and our faith will come forth.

We must remember that Jesus Christ has a perfect, infallible record. He has not failed to produce. If we truly come to Him in faith, our needs will be met. We may not always receive the answer for which we search, but, we will always receive the answer which is best for us. We must truly accept this, as we cannot see all that lies beyond. What we think is good for us might lead to destruction. Christ knows what is around every corner. He is leading us on a truly narrow path. We must totally trust in Him. He alone can lead us to the eternal glory the Heavenly Father has planned for all who believe.

Give all to Christ. He will provide all. He provided a multitude of fish to men who had caught nothing. How much more will He provide for you so that you can be His vessel for advancing the kingdom of God!!
