Receive Truth

“I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.” John 16:12-14 NIV

Jesus had much that He wanted to share with His disciples, but it was much more than what they could bear at that time. They were troubled, as the Master had told them that He would be leaving them soon, and where He was going they could not come. Three years of being with the Lord daily was about to come to an end, at least in their minds. They still did not understand about His forthcoming death and resurrection.

When the disciples received the Holy Spirit, they would be guided into ALL TRUTH. Everything that the disciples would need to know to spread the Good News about Jesus Christ would be provided. This promise of the Lord holds true today for all believers. We must truly take our Lord at His word. We will be given all the truth, the truth which needs to be shared with all of mankind. There are so many hurting souls, souls searching for real truth. Their search is for Jesus Christ.

We know that all the Holy Spirit gives to us is truth, as what is revealed to us by the Spirit is that which is received from the Lord. In providing us with the words of our Lord, the Holy Spirit glorifies our Lord and Savior. In spreading the Good News about Jesus Christ, we too look to glorify the Father and the Son. We spread the light and life of Christ which are within us. The harvest is now ripe. May we continue to be humble vessels that our Lord may use for His glory and the salvation of lost souls! AMEN!!
