“Lazarus, come out!” John 11:43b NIV.

With these three words, Jesus raised Lazarus from death. He called him forth from the tomb. He gave life to a man who had experienced death of the body.

Replace Lazarus in the above with your name. In some manner, Jesus spoke these words to you. He spoke them to you before you totally gave yourself to Him. You may not have heard the words with noise that may have surrounded you at your acceptance of Him, but, those words came out of His heart. He loves each of us dearly and waits for us to accept Him. When we do, we come forth, forth from a life of slavery, slavery to sin, to self-centeredness, to our earthly desires, to that which will perish for us when our physical bodies perish.

We who believe have come forth, called forth by our Savior. We have a life now with Him at the center, sitting on the throne of our heart, mind and soul. We reflect the love of our Savior. Oh sure, there are times when we fail, as we are mere mortals. Yet, our Savior stands ready, waiting to forgive us when we come back to Him and humbly acknowledge our shortcomings. Our Lord paid the price for all our sins. We just need to accept this and return to Him in prayer when we do sin.

Christ has freed our hearts, minds, and souls from the bondage and guilt that come with sin. He truly has given us a new life, a life no longer dead…..dead in sin. Close your eyes, listen attentively and hear that still, soft, sweet voice say to you “(Your name) come out!!”
