Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me. Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.” John 7:16-18 NIV

Jesus taught the will of the Heavenly Father. The Father sent the Son so man might know the Father’s will. Those who know God and His will know that Jesus speaks on behalf of the Father and not of Himself. He does let man know that the Father sent Him, for this is the truth about the Father. He did send His Son. If Jesus had spoken solely on His behalf He would have sought His glorification. So much can be seen in the words of our savior that let us know that He sought glory for the Father. Glory for Christ was being one with the Father. One who seeks glory for the one who sent the messenger can be trusted as they do not seek for themselves, but for the one who sent them. Jesus’ mission was to do the will of the Heavenly Father. He did everything that the Father had asked Him to do. Talk about a total submission and sacrifice, Jesus did it perfectly.

We cannot say we have not been given the opportunity to know the Heavenly Father and His will. We have that opportunity through His Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If we be drawn to the Son through the Heavenly Father, we will come to know the Father through the Son. We shall receive eternal life: a new heart, mind, and soul, and a new mission, a mission dedicated to the advancement of the kingdom of God.

Lord Jesus, thank you for being obedient to the Heavenly Father. It is through You that we have received eternal life, a life that has begun and will entail us being forever with the Father, You His Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN!!
