The Compassion of Christ

There is nothing more beautiful to our Lord than when someone comes to accept Him as Savior. I mean all the angels rejoice. Heaven, a place of eternal splendor gets excited over just one person coming to salvation. If heaven has this much compassion, do we as Christians have the same urging to win people to the Lord? It is the Spirit which gives us the words to say, yet if we no compassion are we doing our work?

We are Gods messengers. We are the hands and feet of God, and a lot of times His voice to someone who doesn’t know how to hear Gods voice yet.

Our precious Savior the Lord Jesus Christ loves people. We read throughout the New Testament that Jesus was filled with compassion for the people. They were like sheep without a shepherd (Matthew 9:36).

The Commission of Jesus (Luke 4:18-19) is the commission of the church, influencing and touching people with the Gospel.

Why Evangelize?

We are commissioned by His word.

THEN JESUS CAME TO THEM AND SAID, "ALL AUTHORITY IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH HAS BEEN GIVEN TO ME. THEREFORE GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS, BAPTISING THEM IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER AND OF THE SON AND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT MATTHEW 28:18-20."

Jesus has given us authority to preach the Gospel – tell His story. We all have different personalities and characters, which is very good, and are all part of God’s plan to win the lost. You will be able to relate to some people that I cannot and vice versa. Some are quiet violins, some loud trumpets, that’s all right. Be yourself but be sensitive to the people and the Holy Spirit’s guidance. Jesus gives us His commission and strength through His Word, the Bible.

If we only tell about Jesus out of legalism and without a genuine concern for others we will not be very effective in winning the lost.

The apostle Paul said, "for Christ’s love compels us".

(2 Cor. 5:14).

Our passion for Jesus gives us a deep compassion for people.

We have the person of the Holy Spirit living within us. Without Christ we can do nothing, people are not won to Christ by human argument but by the working of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit will direct and guide us as we witness, as we stay close to the Lord Jesus in the way we live.

An elderly gentleman was cleaning the Church where he worshipped. He was a lovely Christian, but he was not well this particular day as he set about to vacuum the carpets. He worked for about an hour because the area was quite large. He didn’t realize until the end of the hour that the vacuum cleaner was not plugged in and the whole time had been wasted. We are sometimes like this in our Christian lives – we do not plug into the power source.

I CORINTHIANS 3:9

Verses I Corinthians 3:7-9 encourages me so much.

It is not my responsibility to save the lost but it is my responsibility to tell His story. The results I leave to Him. People come to Christ through the work of the Holy Spirit as they come to genuine repentance and desire to follow Jesus. The Bible says "and how can they hear without someone preaching to them?" (Romans 10:14). As we declare the Great Gospel Message people are drawn by the Holy Spirit to come to Christ.
We just need to live close to Jesus and allow Him to work through us. It is exciting working alongside Jesus, because people are always challenged to change.

"The Gospel is the power of God unto Salvation."

Remember the gifts and callings of God are without repentance. If we are to grow as a church, we must have compassion. Not just we have to win people as a duty, but win people out of deep concern for their souls.

Jesus has called us to reach the lost. We do this by Loving One Another Daily. Letting the Compassion of Christ be our motivator. It doesn't matter a persons sin or what they have done. Cause all of us are sinners and all of us worldwide are equal. Jesus died for everyone. Not just those who think they deserve it. Look with God's eyes. Listen with God's ear. If you have the Love and Compassion of Jesus in your life you sometimes don't even have to mention Jesus. They will cause Jesus is shining bright. People are drawn to Jesus like moths to flame. They can't help it. Cause of our the followers of Christ's love and compassion.
