“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24 NIV

Jesus continues His discussion with the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well.

Jesus had just spoken about Living Water, the Holy Spirit. With the indwelling Spirit, the believer is equipped to commune with God in that manner which pleases Him. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit sent by the Father as a gift to those who believe and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and accept Him as their Savior. The Holy Spirit delivers to the believer the message of truth, the Good News of Jesus Christ. We are told of that which pleases the Heavenly Father. Jesus told the woman that those who truly worship the Father must worship Him in spirit and truth.

The place of worship with the Father is secondary to the worship being in Spirit and truth. We do need to worship where we are free from distractions so that we can properly worship.

It is so wonderful that there is continuity to the Lord’s message. Jesus provides, through the Heavenly Father the Spirit of Truth to the believer. With the indwelling Spirit we can then worship the Father truly in Spirit and truth. This is all part of the Heavenly Father’s perfect plan. We are connected to our Heavenly Father through our Lord Jesus Christ and the indwelling Holy Spirit. Mortal man is connected to God Almighty.

There is only one way. That one way is through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior! Praise your name Lord Jesus and that of the Heavenly Father forever and ever! AMEN!!
