DAY FORTY-TWO

 GUILT BY ASSOCIATION

(A Biblical Example)

“Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches will know that I am He, which searchest the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.” (Revelation 3: 22, 23).

In verse 23 God says. “And I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He which searcheth the reins and I will give every one of you according to your works.” There is no pretense possible in the presence of God. The first step toward repentance is being honest about God’s evaluation of us. How we think doesn’t matter. Her children are all who have been under her control and refused to check out and turn from her false teachings. To tolerate evil and compromise truth is not part of the divine economy. The church at Thyatira has allowed these sins to control the church. Ignorance of truth and the fear of man have further contributed to the church’s problem. Ignorance leads to indolence whereas embracing truth leads to triumph. Although the message of compromising is severe, God continues His message to this church with good news and a promise of hope

We wish to close this very negative portion with the word of hope and encouragement. Sin and selfishness are evils that will not go away. They will be present even in the myths of righteous people. God is a God of love but he is also a God who is holy and must exercise justice, which is perfectly in harmony with his holiness. God cannot tolerate evil in his presence and must punish sin. God is also a God who loves the men he has created. God’s justice is exercise against men who refuse the love of God. The admonition is for those who are associated with these evil practices to depart from them.
