“Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.” (John 3:14-15 NIV)

Jesus said that He must be lifted up. Jesus knew the perfect plan of the Father. He knew what He must do to carry out the Father’s perfect plan. He knew He must be lifted up. In so doing, mankind could be reconciled to the Father through the innocent blood shed on the cross by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. When we are reconnected to the heavenly Father through Jesus, we begin a new life. It is the beginning of eternal life. We work then to advance the kingdom of God. Our lives have been bought with a price. The Father and the Son are merciful and loving to us. He did not have to die for us. He chose to die for us. It is the Father’s perfect plan. We can never save ourselves. Christ alone can save us from ourselves, from sin and the destruction that it brings. He is the one who can put true love in our heart.

Yes, Jesus needed to be lifted up. We must look to our Lord who died for us. He rose and is seated at God’s right hand. He has offered us a free gift, a gift that cannot possibly be matched by any human. We must accept His gift and let others know about the wonderful gift the Lord offers to all of mankind.
