“No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man.” (John 3:13 NIV)

Many of us have heard accounts of individuals who have temporarily died and had their souls go to heaven. These people then are sent back to earth, as it is deemed their earthly life has not yet been completed. They share their experiences of time in heaven with others.

Does this conflict with what Jesus says above? I do not believe so. These people have had temporary glimpses of heaven.

However, Jesus came down from heaven, where he had been with the Father forever up to His incarnation. Jesus is the only one who could provide accounts about the eternal truths of heaven. Jesus tells about many things of heaven whereas the people mentioned above can only present their experience of heaven.

We are not meant to have a vast understanding of what all is entailed in heaven while we are here on earth. We are to trust our Lord, and be happy with the knowledge He has shared with us about heaven. Our heavenly reward quite possibly would seem less of a treasure to us if we knew all that was entailed therein before we reached our eternal destination.

Let us be thankful for all knowledge that the Lord imparts to us, do the work He gives to us, and run the race to reach our eternal reward!
