God Is Love

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 NIV)

This is for sure one of the most quoted and recognized Bible verses. Even so, I don’t believe anyone can do proper justice in a commentary on it. Why do I believe this to be so? We do not totally understand the depth and the breadth of God’s love. It goes so far beyond what we can possibly imagine. We could love as it is written in 1 Corinthians 13, and we could love as Christ commands, we could love our enemies, and yet we would still not have the total love that God has for us. The Father could have said “The game is over” when Adam and Eve sinned, yet He did not. Many other times He could have said the same, yet He did not. GOD IS LOVE. It is truly who He is. Oh, yes, He is so much more than just love, but, love He is.

Out of this love for mankind came a gift that cannot be matched. We are given the opportunity to have ETERNAL life by accepting the gift the Father gives, His only Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Every human decides whether or not they will have ETERNAL life or ETERNAL torment by either accepting or rejecting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. This gift the Father has given to us was given freely. We have done nothing to deserve it. In fact, we had done much in life to not deserve it. But, again, this is how much GOD LOVES US!

I could try to say more, but I would never be able to say enough to really explain this tremendously beautiful passage.

I just want to accept this free gift offered to all. May you always accept the free gift of God’s love.
