Just Three Verses

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” (John 15:9-11)

Just three verses. That is what you read above. Yet within these three verses there is so much truth, and power. Much could be written just from these words of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Isn’t it so powerful to know that just as the Father has loved the Son, so Jesus loves us? His love for us surpasses the love anyone else can show for anybody. He proved this by willing giving up His life so that we could be reunited to the Heavenly Father through the shedding of His precious blood. I will take that love every single day that I have breath. He then invites us to remain in His love, and He even tells us how we can do that. We must keep the Lord’s commands. We must take up our crosses daily and follow in His footsteps. We must freely give so that others may receive through Christ. I love how Jesus teaches us that if we obey His commands we will remain in His love. Relating that to how He remains in the Father’s love by obeying His commands can help us to better understand the obedience to Christ that we must possess. And what comes after all this? We will have joy, but so much more than just that. We will have the joy of the Lord, and this joy will be made complete! What an absolutely amazing promise our Lord gives to us! Having the joy of the Lord complete in us! Can you feel this joy! Bask in it! Bathe in it! It is given to us by our Lord! This promise is so awesome! No one can offer us a promise like this except Christ.

I haven’t even touched the iceberg of what could be written about these three verses of scripture, but these thoughts were on my heart.

What Jesus promises, He delivers! God bless you all my brothers and sisters in Christ, and all believers in our Lord!
