Love As Jesus Loved

“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.” (John 15:13-15)

What does it mean that we must love each other as Christ has loved us? Our love cannot measure up to the love Christ has for us. Jesus sacrificed His life for us by dying for us so that we can be saved from our sins. In loving others, and giving up our own earthly desires so that others might receive, we are also sacrificing. Jesus told us that if we wish to be exalted that we must humble ourselves. By making this sacrifice and being obedient to our Lord’s commands, we are His friends. How fantastic it is to be a friend of Jesus! Jesus makes known to us all that the Father wants us to know. This is done through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit within us. The Father’s perfect plan is accomplished through His Son and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Jesus’ promises herein are accomplished. What Jesus promises, He delivers!
