What A Place!

A while back my sisters and I were going through keepsakes Mom had left behind.  Emotions ran high as we fingered through cards and letters she had kept through the years. Toward the bottom of the old chest, tied with a ribbon, were drawings Mom had told us about through the years.

 As they made plans for marriage, Dad told Mom of a beautiful hill, “this place” where  he wanted them to raise a family. He spoke with excited voice as he persuaded Mom. He drew pictures for her. She agreed, sight unseen.

They worked hard, making sacrifices, to buy their prize.   Every weekly pay check was a week closer to taking his bride to where he’d dreamed about as a young boy.  Later four children were born. Their dream had come true

Jesus says in John 14:2-3(NKJV), “In my Father’s house are many mansions.  If it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you. I will come again and receive you to myself, that where I am there you may be also.”  I believe Jesus was excited as he spoke with His disciples.  I believe His eyes sparkled when He spoke of heaven and maybe He even shook His head when He thought of the beauty of “this place!”

If Dad could communicate with me now, I am sure he would be speechless once again, trying to describe Heaven’s beauty.  After working so hard for an earthly treasure, I believe he would add, “And just like the bible says, it was all paid for when I arrived. Jesus paid for everything! You won’t believe this place!”
