1 John 4:9-11 – “In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another”.
God is love and His love is showcased in our lives in many ways. We love each other because God first loved us and His love is show in the sacrifice He made for us. As people who receive the love of God, we become God’s ambassadors of love. Love is showcased between husband and wife, parents and children, family members, relatives, friends and it goes on. What about those who are rejected and deprived of the love we receive from God and others?
I remember seeing a movie about an unconditional love where a lady who once was rich lost everything after her husband died but he did leave her a small land as a possession. She was asked to vacate from the mansion she lived in and move in to the house she possessed. As she was passing by the streets before she reached there, she was disturbed with the sight of the people living in bad conditions especially children. When she approached her property, she was shocked to know that her house was already occupied by a couple who took in few kids and adopted them. These kids that lived there felt rejected, abandoned and hated to be transferred from one foster home to another for a long time and as a result of that they couldn’t experience what is “Love”.
At first the family took some time to get used to this lady and the same with her. Later she understood from what backgrounds these kids came from and she got to know them a little better. Even though they were pretty to handle, she wanted to show them her love and care. Her love through her actions and words helped these kids to see there’s more to life and not to give up on themselves. Most of all they felt they were wanted by someone who loves them and cares about them. Similarly, God’s love reflected through us can work wonders in the lives of those who God shows us. We can speak life over them, show love and our care through our actions and most of all is to be there to listen to them when they need someone to listen to them.
The transformation of a person will take time but we as children of God must practice what He has in 1 Corinthians:13:4-7-“ Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres”.
Let’s strive to keep that love ever burning in our lives. God never shortens His love towards us and we as His children must pass that on to those who are longing for that in their lives. Ask the Lord to reveal to you to who you must reflect Christ’s love in their lives whether it’s an individual or a community. The Lord will reveal to you. Be the ambassador of Agape (God’s love) for those who are deprived of it.
Dear God Abba Father in Heaven,
We thank You for this day. Lord, we thankful for the love that You show on us and help us to carry that love out to others. Lord, help us to be instruments of love to those are deprived of it. We love You. In Jesus Christ Name. Amen.
